Our School's Values

Our Mission Statement

At Gardenvale Primary School, our goal as an effective learning community is the achievement of excellence and the fulfilment of potential, in a happy, caring and safe environment. We celebrate our cultural diversity and we strive to actively engage our students in a wide variety of meaningful learning experiences.

Our School Motto

The school motto is "Onward and Upward"

Every member of the school community has a right to fully participate in an educational environment that is safe, supportive and inclusive and the right to be treated with respect and dignity. This is facilitated through a whole school approach based on the latest evidence and the Victorian Department of Education and Training (DET) Student Engagement and Inclusion Guidelines.

At Gardenvale Primary School we have a mascot called HERRRBY who assists in delivering, instilling and promoting the GPS 'Values' which are; Honesty, Empathy, Respect, Resilience, Responsibility Be Yourself.

In the past, HERRRBY has lead the way in fighting "Cyber Bullying" and encouraging everyone to "Go Green". In 2021, as a result of the current global pandemic, HERRRBY is focussing on "Supporting Everyone" at Gardenvale Primary School.

For a more detailed overview of our values program, please visit the "Our Learning" tab on the HOME page and then click on the WELLBEING link.

HERRRBY SONG:

Verse 1

Here’s a little song and it won’t take long

You will learn about HERRRBY and how to get along

Take a friend by the hand and together make a stand and say

HERRRBY’s the way…today.

CHORUS

HERRRBY stands for honesty, always tell the truth

E for Empathy means try to stand in someone’s shoes

Be Respectful, be Responsible, Resilient too,

Just be you!!

Be yourself, be yourself, be yourself.

Verse 2

When you’re out at play and a bully comes your way,

Think of this song and you’ll know what to say

Take a friend by the hand and together make a stand and say

Bully Go away

Bully No way

Go Away

CHORUS

HERRRBY stands for honesty, always tell the truth

E for Empathy means stand in someone else’s shoes

Be Respectful, be Responsible, Resilient too,

Just be you!!

Be yourself, be yourself, be yourself.

Be yourself

Be yourself, be yourself

The GVPS community would like to acknowledge the traditional custodians of the land our school is on, the Bunurong people of the Kulin Nation, where we meet, learn and play. We pay our respects to their elders past and present. This land always was and always will be Aboriginal Land.
